Assessing

The primary duties are the responsibility of implementing the "General Property Tax Act".

The Assessor's job is to assess all real and personal property (machinery/ equipment & furniture/ fixtures of commercial/ industrial properties) within the jurisdiction of the City of Iron Mountain, subject to taxation.

Assessments are based on the status of the individual property. The annual assessment is to reflect 50% of True Cash Value as required by state law.

The Assessor's office can provide information on individual properties, including but not limited to: lot size/location, building size and amenities, ownership/sale data as received from Dickinson County Register of Deeds, assessed value, taxable value, classification and homestead data.
